Chiefs' Demarcus Robinson, Daniel Kilgore testing negative for COVID-19

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to receive positive news on the COVID-19 front ahead of their Super Bowl LV matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on Thursday that Kansas City backup center Daniel Kilgore and wide receiver Demarcus Robinson continue to test negative for the coronavirus. The pair entered the league's COVID-19 protocols on Monday when they were deemed high-risk close contacts.

ESPN's Adam Teicher explained on Wednesday that Kilgore was receiving a haircut from a barber last Sunday when the Chiefs learned that the barber returned a positive COVID-19 test result. Before the Chiefs removed the barber from scheduled appointments, 20 individuals associated with the team, including quarterback and reigning Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Patrick Mahomes, were awaiting haircuts.

According to Pelissero, Robinson can rejoin team activities on Friday if he continues to test negative for COVID-19. Kilgore will not be cleared before Saturday morning at the earliest.

Kilgore had some fun at his own expense via Twitter on Wednesday:

Robinson, meanwhile, was third on the Chiefs in the regular season with 45 receptions. He also recorded 466 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
