Chiefs HC Andy Reid: Proud of WR Josh Gordon, leaves door open for return to KC

On Tuesday, wide receiver Josh Gordon was among the Kansas City Chiefs' final roster cuts. However, this might not be the end of Gordon's time with the Chiefs.

According to head coach Andy Reid, the door is open for a possible return if Gordon doesn't catch on with another team.

"I'm proud of Josh for all that he did; real pleasure having him here," Reid told reporters this week. "There's a chance he's potential back here if it doesn't work out somewhere else."

After a turbulent past, the 31-year-old was reinstated by the NFL last September, signing with the Chiefs shortly thereafter. Gordon played in 12 regular-season games, compiling five receptions for 32 yards.

The former All-Pro thanked fans and the Chiefs after his release.

Gordon has been suspended six times by the NFL for substance abuse and has reportedly dealt with mental-health issues since being selected by the Cleveland Browns in the NFL supplemental draft in 2012.

While returning to the Chiefs may still be on the table, NFL Network's Taylor Bisciotti reports that Gordon visited the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday.

Gordon led the NFL in receiving yards in 2013 (1,646) in his second season with the Browns, earning All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.

In seven seasons with the Browns, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, and Chiefs, Gordon has averaged 17.0 yards per catch, posting 252 receptions for 4,284 yards and 21 touchdowns.
