Chiefs' Kadarius Toney claims Instagram rant was altered

In a since-deleted Instagram story, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney claimed his recent rant was altered to make it seem like he was attacking the team.

Before the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens, Toney was ruled out with a hip injury. Afterward, a clip of the 25-year-old emerged on his Instagram Live, where it appeared he dropped multiple expletives and said the team was lying about his injury.

Following the rant, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said the injury isn't "made up." Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk reported Kansas City removed him from Wednesday's injury report.

The NFL can fine clubs for inaccurate injury reports. Whether Kansas City fabricated Toney's injury remains to be seen.

The Chiefs traded third- and sixth-round picks to the New York Giants for Toney last season. In Super Bowl LVII, the former first-round pick excelled, catching a TD and returning a punt for 65 yards.

However, he didn't meet expectations this season. In 13 games, he recorded 27 receptions for 169 yards and one TD. He last played in Week 15 against the New England Patriots, where he bobbled a pass that was intercepted.

The Chiefs face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11. Although K.C. has won four AFC titles over the past six seasons, expect it to upgrade its receiving corps this offseason. Per Pro Football Reference, it led the league in drops (44) in the regular season.

Tankathon predicts the Chiefs will select Oregon WR Troy Franklin with the 31st overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He had 81 receptions for 1,383 yards and 14 TDs in his final season with the Ducks.
