Chiefs OT accuses Bills of spiteful stunt after divisional-round loss

Temperatures in the low 20s weren’t the only form of cold that the Kansas City Chiefs had to deal with Sunday night at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo.

Following their 27-24 road win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC divisional round, Chiefs offensive tackle Donovan Smith accused the Bills of taking out their frustrations on them by turning off their hot water in the visiting locker room.

Being subjected to cold showers in sub-freezing temperatures didn’t ruin the Chiefs’ night though as cornerback Joshua Williams live-streamed part of the team’s locker-room celebration on Instagram, in which several players can be seen dancing shirtless while taking their victory lap.

Sunday’s win marked the sixth straight year the Chiefs advanced to the AFC Championship game, and it was the third time in four years they were responsible for ending the Bills’ season.

KC eliminated Buffalo in back-to-back years two seasons ago, winning a 42-36 overtime thriller in the divisional round in 2021 and cruising to a 38-24 victory in the AFC Championship game in 2020.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen is now 3-4 against the Chiefs in his career including the playoffs, and he’s 0-3 against them in the postseason. He’s never beaten Kansas City twice in one season.

In his three playoff losses against KC, Allen has averaged 267 yards passing with seven touchdowns and one interception along with 76 yards rushing per game and two more scores.

The Chiefs’ divisional-round win also exacted a bit of revenge from the regular season after the Bills edged them 20-17 in Week 14, handing them their third loss in their last four games.
