The Kansas City Chiefs suffered another notable injury blow ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, this time on the defensive side of the ball.

Standout pass-rusher Charles Omenihu suffered a torn ACL during Sunday’s AFC Championship victory over Baltimore, according to Jordan Schulz of Bleacher Report. The injury obviously rules Omenihu out for the Super Bowl in two weeks.

This represents a big blow to the Kansas City defense, as Omenihu has been a very impactful player this season. He had seven sacks and forced two fumbles in the regular season, and was responsible for a strip sack of Lamar Jackson during the second quarter on Sunday. He suffered the injury just before halftime.

The Chiefs were short a key player in the AFC Championship but still prevailed. Omenihu represents a significant absence, but they have shown the ability to weather such setbacks.
