Chiefs TE Travis Kelce donates $100K to Super Bowl parade shooting victims

Following the shooting at the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City on Wednesday, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce made a generous offer to one of the families who were affected by the tragedy.

Pete Grathoff of the Kansas City Star reported Kelce's charity, the Eighty-Seven & Running Foundation, donated $100K to a GoFundMe for the Reyes family, who had two daughters who suffered gunshot wounds in the leg.

"Travis has a really big soft spot for kids and wanted to make sure their families were taken care of and were supported with whatever they needed," an anonymous source told Page Six.

Kelce's girlfriend, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, also donated $100K to a GoFundMe set up for the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two who was killed during the parade.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, visited the Reyes daughters at the Children's Mercy Hospital after the shooting.

The shooting occurred at the end of the parade near Union Station in downtown Kansas City, leaving 22 wounded. Per NBC News, police say victims ranged in age from 8 to 47, and at least half were under the age of 16. The site added two juveniles have been charged, and there is no evidence of terrorism or extremism.

"I'm hurting for, one, the families of the people who got impacted, [and two,] the city of Kansas City," Chiefs guard Trey Smith said Thursday via NFL.com. "Our hearts go out to you guys. We will continue to pray for you. At the end of the day, Kansas City is a great city. We're going to stand up together, and we're going to be strong."

It's good that members of the Chiefs are devoted to helping their community heal after this tragic event.
