Chiefs TE Travis Kelce lands his first game show hosting gig

Travis Kelce's popularity is about to keep growing beyond the football field.

The Kansas City Chiefs star has been named the host of a new gameshow called "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?" It is a spin-off of the old "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader" show.

The new version will air on Amazon Prime with already 20 episodes ordered.

“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with 'Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity',” Kelce said in a press release announcing the show.

“The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen, will definitely be entertaining. I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”

In the new version, adult contestants will be answering 11 questions from an elementary curriculum on a range of subjects and will be enlisting the help of a classroom full of celebrities to give the correct answers.

On the final question the contestant will only be able to enlist the help of one celebrity in the room to get the correct answer. The final question is worth $100K.

Kelce has been one of the best tight ends in the NFL for a decade now but his popularity beyond the football field has really grown over the past couple of years. Not only because of the podcast he records with his brother, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, but also because of his ongoing romance with music icon Taylor Swift.

All of that resulted in him hosting an episode of "Saturday Night Live" this past year.

Now he is on his way toward continuing to build his status as a pop culture icon by hosting a new game show. The Travis Kelce train is definitely not running out of steam anytime soon.
