Chiefs use franchise tag on three-time Pro Bowl OT Orlando Brown
The Kansas City Chiefs are placing the franchise tag on offensive tackle Orlando Brown, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday morning. Brown is the first pending free agent to be tagged this offseason.
Brown, 25, was acquired by Kansas City last offseason from the Baltimore Ravens. He started all 16 regular-season games and three playoff contests for the Chiefs in 2021 and was selected to his third Pro Bowl.
Spotrac projects a five-year contract extension for Brown, which would make him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league.
The deadline for teams to use the franchise tag on players is Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET.
