The Kansas City Chiefs signed the former Clemson Tigers wide receiver Justyn Ross back in the 2022 off-season to add some depth to the receivers’ room. Ross had so much potential to become a solid weapon for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. However, Ross hasn’t lived up to the hype so far and has also gotten himself into legal trouble.
Back in October, Ross was placed on the NFL Commissioner’s exempt list following disturbing domestic violence allegations. He missed 5 games due to being placed on the list, but he received his game checks. Now, the league has handed out a punishment for his domestic violence allegations.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter , Ross has been suspended for 6 games over the accusations. Since he has already missed 5 games after being placed on the Commissioner’s list, he will only miss 1 more game as a punishment. Ross will be eligible to return to action after the Chiefs’ week 14 game against the Buffalo Bills this weekend.
However, the talented wide receiver will have to return the game checks that he received when he was placed on the exempt list according to ESPN. Ross hasn’t been a big part of the Chiefs’ offensive unit. Before being placed on the list, Ross only had three catches for 33 yards in the 7 games he played for the Kansas City-based football team in the ongoing NFL season.
Why did Justyn Ross receive a 6 game suspension?
Back in October, Justyn Ross was arrested and booked into the Johnson County Detention Center in Shawnee, Kansas. Ross faced 2 charges, one criminal charge and one battery charge without any priors.
Ross was accused of dragging a woman through the house. The woman was identified as someone, who is or has been in a relationship with the Chiefs’ young wide receiver.
She suffered unspecified injuries, which resulted in Ross getting charged with domestic battery with no priors. Furthermore, Ross was also accused of damaging the alleged victim’s property including her laptop and car key. He was released from jail after posting a $2500 bond.
Later, court documents revealed that Ross found out his girlfriend was cheating on him, leading to an altercation between the two. He then threw her out of their apartment in Shawnee.
According to the documents, Ross also admitted to reporters about throwing his girlfriend’s stuff after being upset about the cheating incident. Nonetheless, Justyn Ross could return to the field after finishing his remaining one-game suspension.
