Christian McCaffrey now has something in common with Hall of Fame WR Randy Moss

To say running back Christian McCaffrey has been a difference-maker since joining the San Francisco 49ers would be an understatement. In his short time with the franchise, the versatile back has produced at a level reserved only for a handful of Hall of Famers.

During the 49ers 31-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Thanksgiving Day, McCaffrey found the end zone twice in the first half, giving him 26 touchdowns in 22 games with the 49ers. In the Super Bowl era (since 1967), only two players have 26 or more TDs through their first 22 games with a franchise – McCaffrey and wideout Randy Moss (27) in 2008 with the New England Patriots, per Stathead

In the history of the NFL beyond the Super Bowl era, Jim Brown joins Moss as the only other player who has posted more scores than McCaffrey, tallying 27 touchdowns in his first 22 games with the Cleveland Browns.

After rushing for two touchdowns on Thursday, McCaffrey tied three-time Super Bowl champion Roger Craig (1985) for the most in a single season by a 49ers running back. He now trails only Jerry Rice for the 49ers franchise record for touchdowns in a season. Rice occupies the first and second spots, scoring 17 touchdowns twice (1989 and 1995) and the record of 23 in 1987.

Along with two trips to the end zone, McCaffrey finished Thursday night with 114 yards on the ground off 19 carries (6.0 YPA). Unsurprisingly, he was also involved in the passing game, catching five of six targets for 25 yards (5.0 YPC).

Accounting for his three playoff touchdowns and one passing score in a 49ers uniform, McCaffrey has 31 total TDs since coming to San Francisco. On a day when millions gave thanks, you can bet 49ers fans are showing their appreciation for McCaffrey.
