Cleveland Browns recently inked Jerry Jeudy to an extension and they could soon do the same with their top wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Cooper is in the last year of his deal and like Elijah Moore, is set to be a free agent next offseason.

As pointed out by Mary Kay Cabot, Andrew Berry sounded a lot like a general manager who is anticipating an extension for his top pass catcher this offseason recently.

“Look, Coop’s a Pro Bowl-caliber receiver,” Berry said. “He’s played really well for us the past two years. He’s a strong presence in the locker room. We love him. So players like that, you want to make sure that you can retain as long as possible and we’ll work through all of that at the appropriate times.”

That appropriate time should be soon after the focus leaves the NFL Draft to ensure Cleveland that they have two of their top wideouts under contract past this season.

Cooper, who will be 30 during the 2024 season, is coming off a career-high 1,250 receiving yards. The Pro Bowler missed a pair of games but had 265 yards on 11 catches against the Houston Texans late in the season. Cooper had three touchdowns over the final two regular season games.

Still playing at a No. 1 wide receiver level, Cooper should continue to be a key part of the Browns and their offense. Along with David Njoku, Jeudy, and Moore, the Browns have a nice set of weapons for Deshaun Watson.

A two-year deal makes sense for Cooper and the Browns should get that done soon before other top wideouts are paid. The price today isn’t the same price tomorrow in the NFL.
