Each time the NFL Draft rolls around it gives teams around the league to improve their roster with depth, as well as starting ability. Teams have an idea of what they want to accomplish in the draft and the Browns should have a clear one that stands out.

Jedrick Wills Jr. is playing on his fifth-year contract and has yet to prove he deserves to get a second contract in Cleveland. While the Browns don’t have a first-round pick, they could certainly find a starting tackle after that.

The Browns are already showing interest in drafting a tackle

Cleveland has met with a couple of tackles already for visits. Just the other day, the Browns had BYU’s Kingsley Suamataia in for a top-30 visit and he fits the bill of someone who could come in and be the future left tackle.

The Browns have met with Yale’s Kiran Amegadjie, who is another interesting tackle that could be the guy for them. The draft pick won’t be expected to come in and start because Wills is still getting his shot in 2024 barring anything unexpected.

Last draft, the Browns hit on OT Dawand Jones in the fourth round and he looks like a guy who will hold down one of the tackle positions in the future. Jack Conklin is expected back healthy, so the Browns do have some things to sort through.

Wills has had four years in Cleveland and started all 53 games he has played in. The left tackle played just eight games in 2023 because of a knee injury. The 2024 season will be an opportunity for Wills, perhaps his last in Cleveland.

If Wills struggles, running Jones out left isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Still, the Browns should be looking for a player who can push Wills at left tackle and eventually take over for him if need be in 2025 and beyond.
