The Cleveland Browns aren’t the first team you think of when it comes to offensive prowess. With the likes of Myles Garrett leading the team, it’s understandable if Kevin Stefanski built the team in a way that suits their star defensive end’s strengths.

However, you cannot win football games if you don’t score any points. This point was painfully pointed out when the Browns lost to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round. The carousel of quarterbacks they had to go through due to Deshaun Watson sitting out is an obvious problem, but the lack of a capable wideout also hurt their chances.

Due to this, the Cleveland Browns would do well to find a capable wide receiver who can reinforce their struggling passing game. There are already reports that link them to one interesting name in free agency.

Cleveland Browns could snatch Gabe Davis away from Buffalo

Sports Illustrated’s Spencer German answered multiple questions surrounding the Browns’ offseason moves, and one of the topics he covered was the possibility of signing Buffalo Bills receiver Gabe Davis.

He mentioned that Davis is a capable wideout who can become a great weapon to take away some of the attention from Amari Cooper.

Davis played in all 17 regular season games for the Bills, notching 746 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns on 16.6 yards per carry. While his numbers last season weren’t as impressive as his 2022 tally, he still shows that he’s a capable wideout who can catch balls for whichever QB will line up under center next season.

However, German added a caveat to Gabe Davis’ performance. He thinks that his 2023 numbers aren’t as impressive as they initially seem:

To this point though, his career has been defined by inconsistent feast or famine like performances. That may not make him worth the big pay day he’ll get on the open market, which is maybe the biggest reason I think the Browns look elsewhere – likely to the trade market – to land a WR.

It will be hard for them to snag a 24-year-old who’s looking for a big payday on a reasonable contract. However, he’ll be a great addition to the Browns offense if they manage to pull it off.
