It is not just new players coming about for the Cleveland Browns right now, it looks like it is a new addition to the coaching staff as well.

The Browns are expected to hire UConn Huskies OC Nick Charlton to their coaching staff, according to Pete Thames of ESPN. Charlton will join the staff as an offensive assistant.

Charlton spent the last two college football seasons with UConn where he coached quarterbacks along with being the offensive coordinator. Before that stop, Charlton was the head coach at Maine from 2019-2021. He started at Maine in 2015 coaching wideouts, then eventually moved up to offensive coordinator before taking over as head coach.

This offseason, the Browns have added offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, tight ends coach Tommy Rees, running backs coach Duce Staley, and offensive line coach Andy Dickerson to the offensive staff.

It is unclear whether or not Kevin Stefanski wants to give up play-calling duties, but he is building a diverse staff of different offensive minds, to say the least. The team badly needs Deshaun Watson to figure it out this season and it appears pieces are being put in place for the offense to upgrade as a whole.

At this time, it is unclear exactly what the 35-year-old Charlton will specialize in within the offensive coaching staff.
