Colin Cowherd compares Lamar Jackson, Andy Dalton to drastically different cell phones

Lamar Jackson's Baltimore Ravens defeated Andy Dalton's New Orleans Saints, 27-13 on "Monday Night Football" in Week 9. On Tuesday, FS1's Colin Cowherd made an interesting analogy when comparing the two signal-callers.

In fairness to Dalton, it's hard to measure many quarterbacks in the league today against the 2019 MVP. Jackson is 25 years old and arguably still hasn't yet reached his prime, while the "Red Rifle" recently turned 35.

With guys like Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers still hanging on and competing despite their advanced ages (for an NFL player), many would agree that the league is better suited for dual-threat, mobile quarterbacks in 2022. Jackson has cooled off in recent weeks after a torrid start to the 2022 campaign, but it's no coincidence that the top MVP candidates at the quarterback position can all run with the ball -- players like Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, and Patrick Mahomes.

Even as recently as 2011, when Dalton entered the league, there was less of a focus on having a mobile quarterback under center. The three-time Pro Bowler saw his fair share of runs earlier in his career and has totaled 1,444 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns on 452 rushes over 158 career regular season games.

Jackson -- who passed Hall of Famer Steve Young for fifth on the quarterbacks' all-time rushing list on Monday -- has totaled 4,308 rushing yards and 23 scores via 701 carries in just 67 regular season games. Through nine games in 2022, Jackson has averaged a career-high and NFL-best 7.4 yards per carry.

The Ravens have a bye in Week 10 before they host the Carolina Panthers in Week 11 on Nov. 20.
