Following a remarkable 2023 NFL regular season, the Dallas Cowboys entered the NFL playoffs as the NFC’s second seed, harboring high aspirations of clinching the elusive Super Bowl title.

However, their aspirations were dashed as they underestimated Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers in the first round, suffering a devastating loss on their home turf and exiting the postseason empty-handed, leaving a plethora of uncertainties looming over the revered franchise.

The Cowboys’ postseason collapse sparked speculation of significant roster changes and a potential coaching shake-up. Surprisingly, neither materialized.

Instead, the most notable offseason move saw the return of veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott.

Colin Cowherd, from FOX Sports’ “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” believes this reunion will significantly impact Prescott’s performance going forward.

“They will be more dependent on Dak Prescott than ever before.”

While re-signing Ezekiel Elliott may be a prudent decision for Dallas, it fails to address the fundamental issues that plagued the team’s playoff performance.

All eyes are now on Prescott and the Cowboys as the 2024 NFL season approaches. His performance will undoubtedly influence his future with the team, with his job security and hopes for a lucrative contract extension hanging in the balance.

Prescott has everything to lose if he falters and falls short of expectations. If the Cowboys are unable to make some kind of deep postseason run, it seems very likely that Jerry Jones and the front office would make some major moves.
