Colin Kaepernick collector auctions rare rookie card, will split profit with QB's 'Know Your Rights Camp'

While many thought the value of Colin Kaepernick merchandise would plummet in the aftermath of his ousting from the NFL, one person's opinion was the opposite.

Kaepernick hasn't played in the NFL since the 2016 season, when he started protesting police brutality and racial injustice by kneeling during the national anthem. One person began to buy up all the merchandise related to the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback that he could.

According to TMZ Sports, the collector purchased a rare autographed Kaepernick rookie card featuring a piece of game-used jersey from 2011, and now he's auctioning it off for a great cause.

The valuable card, which could fetch up to more than $25,000, is being auctioned to raise money for Kaepernick's "Know Your Rights Camp," which aims to "advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization and the creation of new systems that elevate the next generation of change leaders."

The owner of the card is going to donate half of the profit to the KYRC, and the organization reportedly heavily appreciates the donation.

Goldin Auctions is selling the card, which is a 2011 Topps Platinum Rookie Patch Autograph Red Refractor card. It's the only card of its kind ever made.

The current bid for the card already is at $1,200 as of Sunday and has eight bids.
