Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson had a nightmarish rookie campaign in 2023 as far as his health was concerned.

He suffered a concussion two games into his NFL career, causing him to miss Week 3. Then, in Week 5, Richardson suffered a shoulder injury that knocked him out for the remainder of the season and resulted in surgery.

Richardson is on the mend heading into next season, and Colts general manager Chris Ballard provided an update on his signal-caller during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Thursday night.

That’s definitely some positive news for Colts fans.

Ballard said Richardson should be ready for OTAs in about a week, which means he must be making significant progress in his recovery.

When he was on the field this past year, Richardson threw for 577 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception, completing 59.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 87.3. He also rushed for 136 yards and four scores.

The 21-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Florida, was selected by Indianapolis with the fourth overall pick of the NFL Draft last spring.

Richardson’s talent is unquestionable, and some feel he has superstar potential as a lethal dual threat with decent weapons in Indy’s aerial attack.

However, Richardson may have to curb his physical style of running just a bit to prevent further injuries.

We’ll see how he responds with a (hopefully) full 17-game campaign in 2024.
