The Indianapolis Colts hosted a workout with free-agent wide receiver Sammy Watkins on Monday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Rapoport adds that the Colts were trying to add a wide out at the deadline.

Watkins most recently played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2022, appearing in three games and logging three catches for 119 yards. He also spent nine contests with the Green Bay Packers last season. Between both the Ravens and the Packers, Watkins totaled 16 catches for 325 yards.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills with the fourth pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed a very impressive rookie campaign, playing in every game and catching 65 passes for 982 yards and six touchdowns. He was even better the following year, hauling in 60 receptions for 1,047 yards and nine scores.

However, at that point, Watkins stagnated. As a matter of fact, he never reached that level of production again.

The Fort Myers, Fl. native was limited to just eight games in his third season and finished with 28 grabs for 430 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He was then traded to the Los Angeles Rams that ensuing offseason and spent just one disappointing year with the Rams in which he snared 39 balls for 593 yards and eight touchdowns.

Watkins then went on to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he spent three seasons and helped lead the team to a Super Bowl title during the 2019-20 campaign. That season, Watkins registered 52 catches for 673 yards and three scores.

He proceeded to join Baltimore in 2021, recording 28 receptions for 394 yards and a score before signing with the Packers that following spring. After being waived by Green Bay midway through 2022, he re-joined the Ravens.
