Colts kicker sets NFL record in win over Ravens

The Indianapolis Colts outlasted the Baltimore Ravens in a rain-soaked slop-fest on Sunday, earning a 22-19 overtime win thanks almost entirely to a record-setting day from kicker Matt Gay.

Gay was not only successful on all five of his field goal attempts, he made four of them from beyond 50 yards, including the game-winning 53-yarder in overtime.

That is the first time that has ever happened in NFL history.

Here is a look at his winning kick.

What makes that performance even more impressive is that he kicked those four 50-yarders outdoors in some pretty terrible conditions. It was rainy, sloppy, windy and he never wavered.

The game went to overtime after Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, who is very well known for making clutch kicks from incredible distances, came up short on a 61-yard attempt with one second remaining in the fourth quarter.

Even though the Ravens managed to cross midfield on more than one occasion in overtime, they never got close enough to give Tucker another opportunity.

The Colts are now 2-1 and won Sunday's game without the services of rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson. Richardson sat out the game due to a concussion that he suffered in Week 2 and was replaced by veteran Gardner Minshew.

Minshew did not turn the ball over and completed 27-of-44 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown. Running back Zack Moss also rushed for 101 yards in the absence of superstar running back Jonathan Taylor.
