Colts OC Marcus Brady: Matt Ryan fits offense like a glove

The Indianapolis Colts are slated to start the 2022 NFL season with a different starting quarterback for the fifth consecutive year . While newly acquired signal-caller Matt Ryan is certainly no spring chicken at almost 37 years old, Colts second-year offensive coordinator Marcus Brady is apparently already fully on board with the former MVP.

Traded to Indianapolis from the Atlanta Falcons in March, Ryan will begin his 15th pro season in the fall, and first outside of the franchise that made him the third-overall draft pick in 2008. "Matty Ice" helped lead the Falcons to the playoffs six times during his run with the organization, but only two of those postseason berths happened in the last nine years and none occurred after 2017.

Since former No. 1 overall pick Andrew Luck brought the Colts to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons from 2012 to 2014, the franchise has only made the postseason in two of the last seven years.

Despite playing and starting in all 17 contests in 2021, Ryan threw for just 3,968 passing yards, his lowest total since 2010. His 20 touchdown tosses were also tied for the second-fewest of his career and his lowest number since he threw for 20 scores in 2017.
