Colts Pro Bowl TE Jack Doyle out vs. Vikings with lower-body injury

The Indianapolis Colts confirmed on Friday that two-time Pro Bowl tight end Jack Doyle (ankle/knee) won't play in Sunday's home opener against the Minnesota Vikings.

As noted by the club, the 30-year-old carried no injury into Indy's Week 1 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Doyle finished that game with three catches and 49 receiving yards. He first appeared on the team's injury report on Wednesday and hasn't practiced this week.

Fellow Indianapolis tight end Trey Burton began the season on injured reserve because of a calf injury. Per amended rules for the campaign held amid the coronavirus pandemic, Burton must miss a minimum of three games before he's eligible to return.

Third-year pro Mo Alie-Cox has accumulated 17 receptions and two scores in 26 regular-season appearances. Undrafted rookie tight end Noah Togiai hasn't yet made his official NFL debut and was only claimed by the Colts on Sept. 6.

Undrafted rookies Farrod Green and Charlie Taumoepeau are on the practice squad and could also feature at tight end for the Colts.
