Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson has been taken out of Sunday’s game vs. the Tennessee Titans game with an apparent right shoulder injury. Gardner Minshew has stepped in to replace the injured rookie.

Richardson was scrambling on a play before being tackled awkwardly. He immediately began tapping his throwing shoulder and has since been taken to the locker room for further evaluation. He has officially been ruled as questionable to return.

The Colts led the Titans 10-6 before the injury. Richardson began the game 9 of 12 passing for 98 yards before being taken out.

The former Florida Gators standout has missed time already this year in concussion protocol, as he was sidelined for Week 3’s overtime victory against the Baltimore Ravens. He returned the following week to lead the Colts to another overtime matchup, this time in a losing effort against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Colts selected Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, despite many questioning how he would perform in the National Football League. Richardson was regarded as one of the most athletic quarterback prospects of all time, standing at 6-foot-4, 244 pounds. However, he struggled to make plays consistently in the passing game during his time at Florida.

Richardson has silenced his critics so far in the NFL, showing off the athleticism and arm strength that made him an intriguing quarterback prospect. Still, his natural physicality has done him in for a second time during his young NFL career.
