Colts QB Carson Wentz 'throwing the kitchen sink' at ankle treatments ahead of Titans game

Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Carson Wentz suffered sprains to both of his ankles in this past Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, and many assumed 2020 fourth-round draft pick Jacob Eason would start in Wentz's place for the Week 3 matchup at the Tennessee Titans.

Wentz didn't practicing Wednesday, but he also isn't yet giving up on playing this weekend.

According to Mike Wells of ESPN, Wentz is "throwing the kitchen sink" at treatments for his latest setbacks. He added the right ankle is worse than the left.

As Chase Goodbread noted for the NFL's website, a right-handed quarterback such as Wentz uses his right foot to help generate velocity on throws, so it's understandable coach Frank Reich may not want to push his QB1 heading into the final Sunday of September with so much football left to be played this season.

Wentz previously underwent "very successful" foot surgery Aug. 2 and was originally expected to be sidelined anywhere from five to 12 weeks. However, he returned for the regular-season opener against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 12.

The 28-year-old will again attempt to defy the odds this week.
