Colts QB Matt Ryan after blowout loss to Jags: 'We are where we are'

After a disappointing tie with the Houston Texans to start the season, the Indianapolis Colts dropped another egg Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Colts fell to 0-1-1 on the young season after an embarrassing 24-0 shutout loss to the Jags from Duval County.

Making matters worse, the Colts' shiny new quarterback, veteran Matt Ryan, struggled against a Jaguars defense that allowed 28 points to Carson Wentz and the Washington Commanders in Week 1.

Ryan finished 16-of-30 for 195 yards, with no touchdowns and three interceptions. The 37-year-old was also running for his life most of the afternoon. The Jags' defense not only forced three turnovers on Sunday but also sacked Ryan five times.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Ryan tried to make sense of the team's slow start.

"We are where we are and I think being realistic about where we're at is important," Ryan said. "It has to be brutal honesty."

Ryan's teammate DeForest Buckner was brutally honest with his take on the Colts' performance on Sunday, calling it "embarrassing" before adding, "we got our a-- whooped."

If the Colts are to bounce back, they'll need more from Ryan, first and foremost. The 15-year pro has gone 48-of-80 for 547 yards passing, with a touchdown and four interceptions over the Colts' first two games this season.
