Colts RB Nyheim Hines says Andrew Luck will 'absolutely not' unretire

Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck shocked the bulk of the football community when he retired at the age of 29 ahead of the 2019 regular season.

Luck is rested after having sat through two campaigns, and the Colts need a new starting signal-caller now that veteran Philip Rivers has retired and may be headed toward the commentary booth. Thus, it's only natural Internet rumors about Luck's alleged return to the NFL and the Colts would appear ahead of Super Bowl LV.

Indianapolis running back Nyheim Hines, who played alongside Luck during the 2018 season, recently told Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams (h/t Mike Florio) that fans should stop holding their breaths.

"Absolutely not," Hines said about Luck potentially unretiring and playing in 2021 or ever again. "I don’t see it at all."

Hines didn't mention any candidates for the open quarterback gig by name during the chat with "PFT PM."

"I trust in [general manager] Chris Ballard and [owner] Jim Irsay and everybody on our staff to make the right choice for our team," he explained. "They’ve been doing a great job and we’ve put a pretty good squad together over the past three years with coach Frank Reich. I think whoever they bring in, they’re gonna be great for our organization."

At the risk of marrying a quarterback with a new franchise, we hear Ryan Fitzpatrick wants to keep playing through the 2021 season.
