Indianapolis Colts tight end Kylen Granson caught his first career touchdown on Sunday in his team’s 31-20 win over the Houston Texans. To celebrate, the former Rice and SMU star posed with the touchdown ball in a hilarious photoshoot for Instagram.
“3 years of trying… it’s finally here,” Granson captioned the photos he took alongside his long-time girlfriend Daisy Foko.
Foko confirmed in the comments that the baby reveal-esque photoshoot was all Granson’s idea.
The third-year Colts tight end worked hard for his first score. He caught the pass from backup QB Gardner Minshew a few yards shy of the goal line but stretched just far enough to hit the pylon.
Indianapolis snagged Granson in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft with the No. 127 overall selection. He’s on year three of his four-year, $4.18 million rookie deal. Through two seasons and two games, he’s accumulated 49 receptions for 463 yards and one touchdown. Last year, he set career highs with 31 catches and 302 yards.
With the seal finally broken, there could be more touchdowns coming in the near future for Granson. The Colts take on the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon and bring in a 1-1 record. They could start Gardner Minshew in place of rookie Anthony Richardson as the young QB works through concussion protocol this week.
Anthony Richardson in concussion protocol for Colts
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson exited his squad’s Week 2 matchup against the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon with a potential concussion, according to the team. Richardson exited the field and went to the tent before heading to the locker room for further concussion evaluation.
Prior to leaving the field, the young QB accounted for both of his team’s first-quarter scores against the Houston Texans.
Richardson’s first touchdown scamper came on the opening drive of the game, an 18-yard run to give the Colts a 7-0 lead after the PAT. He followed that up with a 15-yard touchdown run to extend their lead to 14-0. It was on the second score that he banged his head.
Richardson, the Colts’ fourth overall selection in April’s NFL Draft out of Florida, has now compiled four touchdowns (three rushing) in the first five quarters of his career.
Taking his place in the Colts offense was backup quarterback Gardner Minshew. Minshew ended up going 19-for-23 with 171 yards and a touchdown pass to clinch the team’s first win of the year.
