Colts teammates praise quarterback Carson Wentz: 'It's going to be special'

Several of Carson Wentz's new Colts teammates expressed their excitement about the quarterback joining their team, noting that Wentz could use a "fresh start" after his difficult tenure in Philadelphia.

After Philip Rivers' retirement, the Colts were in need of a quarterback, and DeForest Buckner said that the team made the right choice by trading for Wentz, who had finished out the 2020 season on Philadelphia's bench.

"I knew the front office was going to do the right thing for the organization, for the team. Once they landed Carson (Wentz), I was excited," Buckner said on a conference call at Colts minicamp Monday. "I just think he needed a fresh start and the freshest start was out here in Indy for him."

Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton also praised Wentz, noting that his arm strength and accuracy. This should come as a relief to Colts fans, as Wentz struggled with his accuracy last season, completing less than 60% of his passes.

"His throws were on the money. He has a big arm," Hilton said. "It's exciting. It's going to be special."

If Wentz is as good as Buckner and Hilton are suggesting, Indianapolis should be in position to make the postseason once again and perhaps even become a dark-horse Super Bowl contender.
