The Washington Commanders locked up their quarterback of the future in Jayden Daniels during the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but there's obviously still a lot of work to do as the team picking No. 2 overall.

There are some obvious holes to fill, still, and one of said holes is tackle. Right now, the Commanders have veteran Andrew Wylie and career swing tackle Cornelius Lucas as the presumed starters at right and left tackle, respectively. Then, there's 2023 fourth-rounder, Braeden Daniels, who didn't play a single offensive snap of football during his rookie year.

Tackle was an obvious need coming into the draft, but now, it's an even bigger need since Daniels is in the mix.

According to Cowboys.com's Patrik Walker, the Commanders tried to trade back into the first round in order to snag former Oklahoma tackle, Tyler Guyton, but couldn't. The arch rival Dallas Cowboys eventually took him at No. 29 overall.

Now, it's more obvious, than ever, that the Commanders are taking a tackle at some point during Day 2. It's just a matter of when. It probably won't be until Round 3, though, or after some kind of trade back in Round 2. None of the remaining players are really worth a selection at 36 or 40, more so considering the Commanders could take a corner, pass rusher, or even wideout with one of those picks and it project better.

The main names to watch out for are BYU's Kingsley Suamataia, Yale's Kiran Amegadjie, and even Penn State's Caeden Wallace, since the Commanders are currently without a fourth-round pick. Both Amegadjie and Wallace went on top-30 visits.

At this point, it's just a matter of when and whom the Commanders pick to play tackle on Day of the draft. But we all saw this coming, anyway.
