The Tennessee Titans made a big splash over the weekend by agreeing to a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs to acquire star cornerback L'Jarius Sneed.

Sneed has now passed his physical and the Titans are getting a contract extension done that will make Sneed one of the NFL's highest paid cornerbacks. It will also keep him in Nashville for the foreseeable future.

Sneed is reportedly signing a four-year deal with Tennessee worth $76.4 million. $55 million will be guaranteed with a $20 million signing bonus.

$76.4 million over four years means Sneed is getting paid $19.1 million in AAV on his new deal. That's the sixth highest average contract value among NFL CBs. That's just more that what Jaylon Johnson got from the Chicago Bears this offseason.

Earlier in the offseason, it was widely believed that Sneed was wanting to become the highest paid cornerback in the league. At one point, contract negotiations were holding the Titans back from getting a deal done

Is Sneed a Top 6 cornerback in the league like his contract would suggest? No. But as the next few years go by, more players will hit the open market and the salary cap will only increase. The going rate for a player of Sneed's caliber is only going to go up, and if he's healthy, I don't think this deal will be looked back on as bad value for Tennessee.
