Could Aaron Rodgers head to the Titans this offseason?

Earlier this week, Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson spoke with reporters at the Senior Bowl and defended quarterback Ryan Tannehill coming off Tannehill's disastrous postseason performance against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Titans QB tossed three interceptions en route to the AFC's top seed being bounced from the tournament after just four quarters of action.

However, it's hardly a secret that reigning Most Valuable Player and presumed 2021 NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers could be looking for a fresh start away from the Green Bay Packers this winter or spring. While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are searching for a replacement for retired signal-caller Tom Brady, Jared Stillman of ESPN 102.5 The Game Nashville reports Rodgers "has purchased land and is in the process of building a home in the Nashville suburb of Franklin" and is "open" to possibly joining the Titans.

As Mike Florio notes for Pro Football Talk, Tennessee moving on from Tannehill when the new NFL year opens next month may not be as simple as completing a trade. Tannehill’s contract would leave the Titans with $28.4 million in dead-cap hit if he's traded before June 1, while that number shifts to $9.6 million for 2022 and $18.8 million for 2023 for a post-June 1 trade, according to Nick Gray of the Nashville Tennessean.

It's unknown if Green Bay would accept Tannehill’s contract and other assets in return for Rodgers, and it's also worth mentioning Rodgers will likely want to put pen to paper on an expensive agreement with a would-be new employer following any trade.
