Could Browns sign Steelers former first-round LB?

It seems to be the trend of the offseason that players are joining their former divisional rivals and it looks like there's a good chance of that happening again in Cleveland.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns are hosting free-agent linebacker Devin Bush, a former first round pick by the Steelers, on Thursday.

Bush joined the Seahawks for the 2023 season after Pittsburgh declined his fifth-year option and posted 37 tackles. He is now a free agent once again and could join Cleveland and face his former team at least two times a year.

The No. 10 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft hasn't been the same since his rookie season when he had 109 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, four fumble recoveries and two interceptions. However, most have chalked up his decline in play to him tearing his ACL in 2020.

Still, Bush is an intriguing option and the Browns' inside linebacker room is undergoing a bit of a reconstruction.

Cleveland signed former Vikings LB Jordan Hicks to a two-year, $8 million deal after former starting linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. agreed to terms with the Dolphins on a one-year deal.

If Bush were to join the Browns, he would likely play a backup role similar to what he did when he was in Seattle and come at a cheap price as a result.

Cleveland would allow Bush to play care free as he'd be joining a defense that allowed the fewest total yards per game (270.2) in the league last season. Plus, there seems to be something about revenge games that bring out the best in players.

Bush could be the latest addition to the NFL's growing list of free agents looking to prove their former division rivals wrong for letting them go in 2024.
