Could Ravens steal DB from division rival in free agency?

The Ravens won't be able to be very active in free agency with just $16.63 million in cap space, per Over The Cap.

However, they may be able to make a couple of smaller moves, one of which could be stealing from their division rival.

Bleacher Report's Matt Holder believes Baltimore could target Bengals CB Chidobe Awuzie in free agency, which begins March 13 at 4 p.m. ET.

"Awuzie could go to Baltimore as the No. 2 corner, providing an insurance policy if [Marlon] Humphrey struggles to stay healthy or [Brandon] Stephens walks next spring while bolstering the defense's secondary for another Super Bowl run," Holder writes.

Awuzie won't be the biggest name on the open market, but he has been a quality player throughout his seven-year NFL career, which is why the Ravens could have a chance to add him to their roster.

The 28-year-old is coming off a solid 2023 campaign where he totaled 57 tackles, one forced fumble and six passes defensed. He also allowed just 38 completions on 446 coverage snaps last season, per Pro Football Focus.

Cincinnati could still try to re-sign him but with several other in-house free agents to take care of like DT D.J. Reader, he could certainly hit the open market.

If that happens, Baltimore must capitalize. Humphrey, who is the team's No. 1 corner, has battled the injury bug over the past three seasons, and while Stephens filled in nicely in Humphrey's absence, he is heading into the final year of his deal.

To make matters worse, the Ravens have five impending free agents at cornerback as well, so they should be looking to add depth to the room at the very least.

Awuzie signed a three-year, $21.75M contract with the Bengals in 2021. He's likely to make less this time around, putting Baltimore in a prime position to land the veteran cornerback in the coming weeks.
