Could the entire AFC North make the playoffs in 2023?

The Bengals, Browns, Ravens and Steelers all had impressive wins in Week 9. They continue to make their case as the NFL's best division and are on pace to do something that's never been done before.

As ESPN's Adam Schefter notes, if the season ended today, all four teams in the AFC North would qualify for the postseason. Baltimore (7-2) would host Cincinnati (5-3), Cleveland (5-3) would face Jacksonville (6-2) and Pittsburgh (5-3) would take on Miami (6-3).

An entire division has never advanced to the playoffs in NFL history. It's virtually impossible to do because the four teams must face each other twice a year.

There's still is a lot of season left. The Ravens and Browns are still awaiting their second meeting with each team in the division, while the Bengals and Steelers still need to face each other twice.

Following Week 9, the AFC North is the only division in which every team has a winning record. If all four teams find a way to split this season, the scenario of them all making the postseason will become realistic.

Although still a rarity, a scenario in which three of the four teams making the playoffs is much more likely to play out.

Since the change to four divisions per conference in the 2002 season, three teams making the postseason from the same division has happened nine times, per Sports Illustrated.

Nonetheless, the AFC North has certainly established itself as the best division in the league and seems to be set for a photo finish as all four teams continue to find ways to win games and are getting hot at the right time. Perhaps the group can make some NFL history.
