Cole Beasley ignited a firestorm this week by taking to social media to argue the Dallas Cowboys’ front office plays an integral role in who gets touches on offense.
On Wednesday, the Cowboys wideout attempted to clarify his remarks, again on Twitter.
Beasley’s decision to walk back his inflammatory remarks should not come as a surprise, as he is set to enter free agency this offseason. Any team who may be interested in signing him presumably would view his tweeted commentary as a potential red flag.
“Honestly, the front office pushes who they want to get the ball to,” Beasley wrote in one of his Tuesday tweets. “I haven’t been a huge priority in that regard. Maybe that will change but I’m not sure. More balls come my way in 2 minute drill where nothing is planned.”
Despite his apparent unhappiness — which was not tempered with the Cowboys’ decision to fire offensive coordinator Scott Linehan — Beasley did not rule out a return to Big D in another Tuesday tweet.
That said, as far as any possibility of remaining with the Cowboys next season is concerned, Beasley noted in a tweet Tuesday that “Utilization is more important than money.”
Whether or not Beasley’s social media activity Wednesday is sufficient to mend fences with the Cowboys' front office remains to be seen, should he ultimately remain interested in staying in Dallas.
