When the Dallas Cowboys drafted Neville Gallimore out of Oklahoma with their third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, it was seen as a potential steal on day two of the NFL's extravaganza.

But since the initial excitement of landing Gallimore, it seems like the former Sooner is listed as a cut candidate by Pro Football Focus

"Gallimore's 36.4 grade in 2022 ranked 107th out of 112 interior defenders with at least 300 snaps played on the year, and his 29.7 run-defense grade ranked 136th out of 142 players at the position," PFF said of the Cowboys defensive tackle. "Gallimore has failed to log 10 quarterback pressures in any season to start his career, with just 26 total on 513 pass-rush snaps."

The grades courtesy of PFF highlight a potential reason why the Cowboys moved at the trade deadline to acquire veteran nose tackle Jonathan Hankins from the Las Vegas Raiders.

As for what the Cowboys could get back by cutting Gallimore, according to OvertheCap, it would free up an estimated $2.7 million, while they would eat just around $241,000 in dead money. So before or after June-1st doesn't matter financially, according to the projections.

The question is a simple one: Would the Cowboys rather employ Gallimore ... or gain $2.7 million in room? We'll argue that the upside of Gallimore should prevent Dallas from bothering to make this "small move'' on this big guy.
