Cowboys' Dak Prescott, Trevon Diggs make NFL Top 100 list

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and cornerback Trevon Diggs landed in the NFL’s annual ranking of top 100 players. Prescott came in at No. 44, with Diggs at No. 23.

Diggs had a stellar 2021 with 11 interceptions, the most in a season since 1981. He also earned a Pro Bowl nod and was named First-Team All-Pro. He’s entering his third season and will lead a deep Cowboys secondary.

Prescott didn’t make the list last year because he was sidelined most of the previous season with a compound fracture in his right ankle. He returned to form last year, throwing for a career-high 37 TDs. Prescott made two previous appearances in the top 100. The first came in 2017, the season after he won Rookie of the Year, and the second came in 2020. Diggs made the cut for the first time in his career.

The Cowboys have been well-represented among Nos. 21-100. Prescott and Diggs joined wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (95), left tackle Tyron Smith (92) and right guard Zack Martin (68). You can expect to see second-year linebacker Micah Parsons on the list when the NFL releases players 1-20 on Sunday.

Last year, the Cowboys went 12-5, winning the NFC East and earning their first playoff berth since 2018. Prescott is hopeful that the blend of talent can take the Cowboys even farther in 2022.

Prescott recently told NBC’s Peter King, “I think we’re in a better position than we were last year.”
