Cowboys exec Stephen Jones: Dak Prescott having 'best training camp he's ever had'

The Dallas Cowboys already had high hopes for 2022 after finishing last season with a 12-5 record before getting bounced in their first playoff game. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones says the team is even more optimistic about the upcoming season after watching Dak Prescott in training camp.

"I thought he's had his best camp that I've seen him have since he's been a Cowboy," Jones said of Prescott, via the Dallas Morning News. "Velocity, his accuracy, the whole thing. Obviously, as the quarterbacks get older, they get better. The good ones do. They get better every year. There's no question in my mind, I think he's had his best training camp he's ever had."

Prescott, 29, missed the majority of the 2020 season after a gruesome ankle break. Last season, he returned to throw a career-most 37 touchdowns with 10 interceptions and was the runner-up for NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

This season, the focus will be on Prescott finding a groove with a much different group of pass catchers. Amari Cooper was traded to the Cleveland Browns, Cedric Wilson joined the Miami Dolphins in free agency, and Michael Gallup is still slowly working his way back from a late-season ACL tear.

While Prescott still has CeeDee Lamb and Noah Brown to work with, the Cowboys added James Washington in free agency who suffered a broken foot earlier this month. Dallas used third- and fourth-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft to pick receiver Jalen Tolbert and tight end Jake Ferguson, respectively.
