Cowboys' Jerry Jones provides injury update on six-time All-Pro

Although Dallas Cowboys right guard Zack Martin suffered a quadriceps injury in a Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills, he could still play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

On Tuesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones indicated the injury isn't a huge concern, but they'll have to monitor it.

"I know what a quad bruise is. We'll see how he gets his strength there," Jones told KRLD-FM in Dallas. "A bruise does two things there: not only are they painful to work with, but they can also take the strength out of that area, too. So, got to get that back."

Per Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys are expected to practice on Thursday and hold a walkthrough on Wednesday. Gehlken added they might have Martin follow the "Tyron Smith plan." The Dallas offensive tackle hasn't participated in weekday practices throughout the season in an effort to keep him healthy.

If Martin can't play, undrafted rookie T.J. Bass will fill in. On Monday, Dallas offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer touted the inexperienced O-lineman.

"He did a nice job [against Buffalo]," he said. "There were some fundamental things that I know he'll get cleaned up with [offensive line] coach [Mike] Solari, but we really didn't make any major adjustments. I'm a big fan of that [Bills] front; Ed Oliver is a hell of a football player. [Bass] battled. That's kind of what he has done all year long."

Regardless, Martin — a six-time first-team All-Pro — suiting up is the best-case scenario for the Cowboys (10-4). Pro Football Focus recently gave him a 71.1 grade, 13th at his position.

When he exited the Buffalo game, it clearly impacted the Dallas offense. In the 31-10 blowout, it recorded only 195 yards, a season low.
