Cowboys' Micah Parsons questions Eagles' Jalen Hurts as MVP candidate

Dallas Cowboys pass-rusher Micah Parsons just couldn't help himself.

As Todd Brock noted for Cowboys Wire/USA Today, Parsons was a guest on the podcast hosted by Buffalo Bills defensive star Von Miller on Tuesday when it was mentioned that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is enjoying a Most Valuable Player-caliber season.

"Is it Hurts or the team?" Parsons asked about Hurts' breakout campaign and success.

Parsons then insisted that "it’s system and team" before potentially realizing he may have given his division rivals some bulletin-board material.

"I’m not trying to make no enemies," Parsons continued. "I just love the game so much, and I understand it so much, that when things are off, I just can’t hold it in. I’ve almost got to say something."

According to ESPN stats, Hurts heads into Week 15 leading the NFL among qualified quarterbacks with a 108.4 passer rating on the season. He's fourth with a 70.4 total QBR, tied for fifth with 22 passing touchdowns, 10th with 3,157 yards through the air, sixth among all players with 10 rushing scores, and third among signal-callers with 686 rushing yards.

Per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Parsons eventually admitted during "The VonCast" that Hurts is "good."

The Eagles defeated the Cowboys 26-17 in October and sit atop the overall league standings at 12-1. Philadelphia plays at Dallas (10-3) on Christmas Eve, but ESPN's Tim McManus pointed out that Hurts told reporters Wednesday he and the Eagles are first concentrating on this Sunday's contest at the 3-10 Chicago Bears.

Parsons is tied for third in the NFL with 12.0 sacks this season.
