The Dallas Cowboys have a terrific defense, but there is no doubt that they could stand to use improve their linebacking corps.

Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus sees a potential solution: Seattle Seahawks star Bobby Wagner.

Wagner is coming off of a terrific 2023 campaign in which he played every game and led the NFL with 183 tackles to go along with 3.5 sacks and a fumble recovery en route to his ninth Pro Bowl appearance.

While Wagner may have lost some athleticism over the years, he remains a force at inside linebacker and would unquestionably bring some much-needed savvy to the Cowboys’ defense.

The 33-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Utah State, was selected by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Wagner flashed his ability immediately, registering 140 tackles, a couple of sacks and three interceptions during his rookie campaign. By his third season, he was a Pro Bowler and a First-Team All-Pro after recording 104 tackles and a pair of sacks.

That marked the first of eight straight trips to the Pro Bowl for Wagner, who also collected six First-Team All-Pro nods during that span.

He led the league in tackles in both 2016 and 2019 and came close to doing it again in 2020 when he racked up 170 stops.

Wagner then took a one-year detour to play with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022 but returned to Seattle after being released last offseason.

Even though he has not earned a First-Team All-Pro selection since 2020, he has notched Second-Team All-Pro honors three consecutive years.

We’ll see if the Cowboys take a look at Wagner in the coming weeks, although it may be difficult given their current salary cap situation.
