Cowboys No. 1 offseason priority? Improve passing offense

The Cowboys must fortify their passing game because it's an X-factor determining if a team makes a Super Bowl run.

Coincidentally, the last four Super Bowl champions (Rams, Buccaneers, Chiefs, and Patriots) had an offense that ranked top-10 in passing yards. Also, both teams in Super Bowl LVII sit within the top 10.

After trading star Amari Cooper to Cleveland in 2022, Dallas fell from second to 18th in passing yards. Dak Prescott missed five games with a thumb injury, but he only threw for 238.8 yards per game, his lowest since 2017.

Prescott's production decrease may tie to a sparse WR corps. Outside of Pro Bowl WR CeeDee Lamb, no Dallas WR crossed the 1,000-yard receiving mark.

The position group's limitations contributed to Dallas' post-season downfall.

In a second consecutive playoff loss to San Francisco, the Cowboys gained 206 passing yards. Lamb accounted for more than half the total, with 10 receptions for 117 yards.

During Pro Bowl activities on Sunday, Lamb told NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, "we need more weapons."

Pricey free agents are unattainable since the Cowboys are $7.6M over the cap, per Spotrac, but they can use the draft or trades to boost its passing arsenal.

According to TheScore's Jordan Schultz, Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins, a five-time Pro Bowler, is on the trading block.

In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Cowboys can select Tennessee's Jaylin Hyatt, who won the 2022 Blientkoff Award, awarded to the Nation's best WR.

Whether it's an established star or a promising prospect, each could help Dallas form a championship-caliber offense.
