Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes Deion Sanders could coach in the NFL

Deion Sanders, head coach of the Dallas Cowboys? According to the team's owner, Jerry Jones, it's possible.

Appearing on 105.3 The Fan this week, Jones said Sanders is "very capable" of being a head coach in the NFL.

"Deion Sanders has a little bit going for him when it comes to being a coach,'" Jones said via Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "He's is an outstanding — I'm just going to say he's a great communicator and he's a real leader of me."

According to multiple reports, Sanders is preparing to accept the head coaching gig at Colorado University, but Jones believes his personality and experience tailor him to leading the pros.

"He has a real understanding of what a player's mentality can and should be," Jones said. "Of course, he's actually been around and gotten the benefit of some of the greatest people in sport, and look what he brings to the table."

Sanders has been a hot head coaching name throughout the season, and his stock has only risen since leading Jackson State to its second-straight SWAC title, finishing 11-0 for the first time in school history.

The Hall of Famer has quickly climbed the coaching ladder, but if that eventually leads to an NFL job in Dallas or elsewhere, we'll have to wait and see.

It wouldn't be the first time Jones tabbed a former Cowboy to be the team's head coach, hiring former quarterback Jason Garrett back in 2010.
