Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants rematch with 49ers in playoffs

This past January, the Dallas Cowboys lost their home playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers to the tune of 23-17. Dak Prescott executed a curious quarterback draw but was then unable to spike the football to stop the clock before time and Dallas' postseason hopes expired.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones initially reacted to that result by refusing to immediately commit to head coach Mike McCarthy and by expressing frustration with wide receiver Amari Cooper. Now that many months have passed and that the 2022 Cowboys are at 3-1, Jones is able to admit he'd like another shot at the 49ers in a one-and-done postseason showdown.

"Both those are good teams," Jones said about this past Monday's game between the 49ers and Los Angeles Rams during an appearance on Dallas radio station 105.3 The Fan, per David Bonilla of 49ers WebZone. "I thought last year we had a chance and could compete against those teams. We didn't get it done against San Francisco last year.

"I hope we get a chance to put this team up against them when it really counts, in the playoffs. Those are two teams you should watch, you should have your eye on because somehow we've got to get by them to get where we want to go."

The Rams fell to the 49ers in the "Monday Night Football" clash to drop to 2-2 on the season and will host the Cowboys this coming Sunday. Dallas, meanwhile, has won three straight matchups with backup quarterback Cooper Rush leading the offense in place of Prescott. Prescott hasn't played since he went down with a thumb injury in Week 1.

Rush is on track to start this coming Sunday's Cowboys-Rams game.
