Cowboys QB Cooper Rush on defense: 'They're the reason we're winning'

QB Cooper Rush's steady play has received the major headlines during Dallas' three-game winning streak, but he said the Cowboys' defense deserves most of the credit.

"They're the reason we're winning," Rush said following Dallas' 25-10 win over the Commanders.

The defense hasn't given up more than 17 points per game during Rush's three-game run replacing the injured Dak Prescott, who has an outside shot to play in Week 5, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The last time the Cowboys held opponents to 19 points or fewer in their first four games was 1973.

A strong defensive performance helped mitigate a cold start by the offense. The Cowboys didn't score a touchdown until the end of the second quarter.

Meanwhile, Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz folded under pressure, throwing two interceptions. The second one, by safety Daron Bland, iced the game.

Star outside linebacker Micah Parsons, the defensive conductor, said the Cowboys can wreck any game plan.

"We've been making people minimize their game plan. Really making people earn it." Parsons told Kevin Sherrington of the Dallas Morning News. "When you make people earn it, people don't really want to earn it no more."

The Cowboys will see if they have an elite defense in their next two games, which will be against the Rams and Eagles, two of the NFL's most potent offenses.
