Cowboys QB Dak Prescott not ruling out return in Week 4 versus Commanders

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is clearly itching to get back on the field.

Prescott went down with a thumb injury in Dallas' Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but after thumb surgery and some time to rehab — he's apparently feeling good.

So good, in fact, that he told ESPN's Lisa Salters that he's going to approach the team doctor about starting the process of gripping and throwing the football. Salters was talking to Prescott before Monday Night Football's matchup between the Cowboys and New York Giants.

Gripping and throwing the football is good but is there a timetable for Prescott to return to actual football for Dallas?

"He said, 'A couple of weeks, and I'm counting this as one of them' " Salters reported of Prescott's desired timeline.

Looking at the Cowboys' schedule, a big game in Los Angeles is looming large, followed by a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on the road.

While the Rams and Eagles are huge matchups coming up, Salters reported that Prescott may be thinking about coming back even sooner. At the very least, the Dallas quarterback wouldn't rule out the possibility of him playing next weekend against the Washington Commanders.

"He isn't ruling anything out," Salters reported, mentioning that she specifically asked Prescott about returning in Week 4.2
