Cowboys star CB shares advice he gives to former teammate Mac Jones

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Stephon Gilmore said Tuesday that he still connects with former teammate Mac Jones occasionally and gives him advice on how to stay positive.

Gilmore and Jones weren't teammates for long, as the former Alabama quarterback was selected by the New England Patriots in the 2021 NFL Draft and the former AP Defensive Player of the Year was traded from the Pats to the Carolina Panthers in October that year.

After spending the first five years of his career with the Buffalo Bills from 2012-16 and making his first Pro Bowl during his final season in Western New York, Gilmore signed with New England in March 2017. He shined during his four years with the Patriots, making three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2018-20, earning First Team All-Pro honors twice and winning the AP Defensive Player of the Year award in 2019, while helping lead the team to its most recent championship in Super Bowl LIII.

The South Carolina product never played in a game with Jones, as he was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to start the 2021 campaign before being traded.

Since garnering Pro Bowl honors and finishing as the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year runner-up following the 2021 season, Jones has battled injuries, inconsistent play and constant rumors of being benched.

Jones has posted a 66.5 completion percentage for 1,641 passing yards, nine touchdowns and eight interceptions across eight games in 2023. He has a career low 82.5 quarterback rating halfway through the season.
