Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and return specialist Kavontae Turpin is beating the odds in a major way.

After reportedly suffering a high ankle sprain versus the San Francisco 49ers, an injury that can usually take a player out for 4-6 weeks, Turpin was a full participant in Friday's practice. Turpin had missed practice entirely on Thursday.

The news could put him on track to play on Monday night against the Los Angeles Chargers, which would be a major surprise following the initial reports earlier in the week. Talk about a tough player who wants to be back on the field to erase the lingering bad taste in his mouth from a 42-10 loss.

Turpin, by the way, was one of the very few bright spots from that game. The lone Cowboys touchdown of the game was courtesy of his speed when Dak Prescott dropped a dime in the end zone to make it 14-7.

Plus, Turpin is the lead kickoff and punt returner for Dallas. While sixth-round rookie Deuce Vaughn has the shiftiness to get everyone excited about his potential value on special teams, he's not at Turpin's level yet.

To get him back in a game that could require explosive plays from the Cowboys on every phase of the game is a major deal. Of course, his game status is unofficial. But a full practice is certainly a very promising indicator.

Cowboys' Friday Injury Report for Week 6

LB Damone Clark better be ready to go as the Cowboys are set to lose Leighton Vander Esch to Injured Reserve for at least four games. He's been limited through two practices this week.

Juanyeh Thomas (hamstring), Chuma Edoga (illness), and Johnathan Hankins (illness) did not practice on Friday. Meanwhile, Tony Pollard and Tyron Smith were back at it as full participants, a good sign for gameday.
