The Dallas Cowboys got embarrassed in their wild card game against the Green Bay Packers. As the second seed, big things were expected from this Dallas team. Instead, the Cowboys broke a franchise postseason record they did not want to break.

Most Points Allowed in a Playoff Game in Franchise History

According to Ed Werder of ESPN, this is the most points the Dallas Cowboys have ever allowed in a playoff game. Their previous record was 38 points. Today, they broke that benchmark by double digits. Considering the Cowboys were the second seed, and the Packers were the seventh seed going into the playoffs, this performance is shocking, to say the least.

Dallas Cowboys Moving Forward

Now, the Cowboys need to take a long, hard look at themselves. They have been considered Super Bowl contenders for the last three seasons. However, they have never made it further than the divisional round in any of these playoff appearances.

Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was considered to be a strong candidate to take the Seattle Seahawks job. So, Dallas may have to start from scratch on this side of the ball. Or this performance could end up costing Quinn a head coaching job.
