The Dallas Cowboys are finding a replacement for Dan Quinn after he took the head coaching job with the Washington Commanders . While the team did choke against the Green Bay Packers in the wild card, the team was still one of the best defenses the 2023 NFL season witnessed.
As if to thank Quinn for his contributions to the team’s regular-season successes, the Cowboys’ vocal owner took to the public space to honor his former defensive coordinator and wish him the best in his new role.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked by the media after the Washington Commanders confirmed the hiring of Quinn. It would have been the perfect time for the outspoken owner to take a jab at his former coordinator since his defense wasn’t able to stop Jordan Love and his Packers from pulling a fast one on them.
The Spun’s Daniel Bates wrote about his heartwarming message in detail:
“It doesn’t surprise me. The fact that he’s got head coaching credentials, been to a Super Bowl and the fact that he enjoys some of the skill set he’s got.” Adding that he felt Quinn would be a head coach again two seasons ago.
Such compliments are a big thing for any coach to receive from someone as public about his involvement with the team as Jones. As the owner of America’s Team, he expects nothing but the best out of his coaches, and his words suggest that Quinn has done that ever since taking over as their DC.
While they have a problem with performing in the playoffs, the Dallas Cowboys have always been one of the better defensive teams in the entire NFC. Under Quinn, the 2023 Dallas Cowboys allowed the fifth-least total yards 5095), fifth-least passing yards (3185), and the tenth-least passing TDs (21).
While their running defense needed work (they allowed 1910 rushing yards and 14 TDs), they were one of the toughest defenses to crack in the NFL. If Quinn manages to build on his experience with Dallas in rebuilding the Washington Commanders, the NFC East would see a great shift on its power dynamics sooner than later.
